A big HI to the Monks lake team
Please see attached photo's of my two best fish from a 48hr stint on the
Mallard lake.
Both were caught within a couple of hours of each other early in the morning
from a river bank.
I had a very productive session with 3 cats up to 28lb 7oz (PB) & one Mirror
at 32lb 4oz (PB)- Happy Days
All fish were caught on critically balanced Cell/Tutti Fruiti fishing to a
bar in open water.
This was my first trip to your very well run fishery & I will definitely be
returning soon.
Hopefully I can better the two PB's from this session.
Many Thanks

A big Hi to the Monks lake team,
Please see attached photos from our recent 48hr session in the pipe swim
on Mallard lake.
We caught 5 Cats & 2 Mirrors between us, Cats weighed in at 57lb,
33.5lb, 21.5lb, 21lb & 13lb - The two Mirror Carp came in at 27.4lb &
28.2lb (Named the Rugby Ball…).
I would like to thank the Monks lake team for supporting us with
information regarding the lake, hot spots to fish & baits to use.
This was my second visit to this excellent run fishery and we have
already started to plan our next trip down from Essex.
A welcome 2nd session after only banking one small Cat on my first 48hr
session back in April, although my younger brother bagged a 32lb Mirror
& 4 cats up to 28lb
Thanks again & see you all soon

7PM 7/7/11
Morning,
Our catch report and pictures from the
weekend.
It was our first session and Mallard
and a very enjoyable one at that.
I beat my PB twice, catching a 26.01lb
mirror caught on monster squid boilie followed by a 28.02 lb caught on a
cell topped with a tutti fruity pop up a few hours later. I also had a
22.10 lb on Halibut pellet with chain reaction mirror and a 13.07 lb
mirror also on cell early in the morning.
Terry also on his first session managed
to catch his PB for a catfish twice, firstly with a 27.02lb followed by
a 28.06lb the following day. He also bagged a 16.04 mirror towards the
end of the session. All of his were caught on boilies covered in
Halibut past and a white chocolate pop up.
All our fish were caught from the
riverbank swim. It was a great session and the bailiff’s were very
helpful! Am looking forward to hopefully coming back in the next few
weeks.

Adam Spokes

to all the staff at monk lakes
thanks for some excellent fishing for my 40th birthday trip. I
enclose photos of the monster catfish that i caught at 8am on july
26th 2011. the fish bottomed out my 55lb scales and was quite simply
huge well in excess of 60lbs and comparing it to the weight of the
35lb 15oz cat i had later in the session seemed to be approximately
twice this weight. I hope this fish will be confirmed as a new
mallard lake record. I fished from midday july 25th until 10 am on
thursday 28th and caught the following: tuesday 8am catfish well in
excess of sixty pounds, tuesday 8pm 30lb 1oz catfish, wednesday
1.30pm 24lb 140z catfish, thursday 8am 35lb 15oz catfish all fish
were weighed photographed and witnessed by fellow anglers1. Once
again thanks for providing me with first class facilities and
fishing hope to see you all again soon. simon barnes

Subject: Fish from Mallard June 3, 4 & 5
Dear All,
Here
are some photos from our successful first visit.
We were
very lucky with the weather and we certainly found the fish in the mood.
We selected the pipe and track swims so had the NE wind directly at us.
The cell
boilies were well received, tipped with plastic corn or fruit pop-ups.
Halibut pellets caught the best cat. We feel that 9 carp and 3 cats
was a far better than we had a right to expect. The lake felt empty
although the usual eight anglers were present.
We will be
along again soon, but we will have a tough job to better this result.
Best regards,
Peter

Subject: Weekend 7th - 8th May
Dear Morgan, Ron and
team
Just a quick note to
say to you all thank you very much for looking after us while we were
fishing at Mallard.
We caught the grand
total, not including the Roach/Rudd and Perch, of 4 fish between us.
Three catfish and one Carp. Star man Paul Robertson caught 3 and young
Callum caught his first ever Catfish.
Please find attached
pictures of Robbo’s Carp (25lb 14oz and a personal best) and one of his
catfish (22lb). Please feel free to add to your gallery. The photo is of
the carp’s good side. It has a fin on the opposite side that is nothing
more than a stumpy spike so it is probably a known fish. Can you
enlighten us on this?
The Carp was caught on
a popped up sweet flavoured boilie as were two of the Catfish.
We all found it hard
going. I was fishing in the Channel, so thank you for the weed rake! I
had Carp patrolling in front of me the whole time I was there but
despite trying everything I could think of, and a few things other
people suggested, I could not persuade them to eat!
We all had lots of
silly little bleeps and twitches but nothing that really developed into
anything. I had an absolute screamer but the culprit was a Coot.
We were also wondering
whether or not there any Crayfish in the lake. This is because several
of us had the luncheon meat parts of baits stolen and what looked like
“bite marks” on the tougher boilies.
Frustrating but there
you go. That’s fishing I suppose.
Thanks again.
